October Blues

Listen to this while you're reading

October, such a beautiful, calm, yet covertly strong month, full of gentle autumn breezes felling leaves to the ground, and serious chill being pushed through what's left of summer. I have a thing for fall. The smell (I'll admit, I get excited about the smell of every season - it's kinda my thing), the look, the quietness, the sweaters and boots and pumpkin coffee, apple cider donuts, corn mazes, pumpkins, bonfires, mallows, thanksgivingchristmasshoppingblanketscuddlescolors!! Yeah. I like fall. It makes me want to embrace the solitude and silence of the coming cold. Unfortunately, ever since I started dating Tad, my introverts qualities have been slowly swallowed up by people and relationships, and now, I don't think I know how to enjoy being alone. A normal day, Tuesday thru Saturday, can go one of two ways. If I have work, I spend my morning and the first part of the afternoon completing household tasks I've set, enjoying a little television, maybe read a little. Then I depart for work and come home that night to my wonderful husband. Or, if I don't work, I do the same, just minus the work, so I have more time at home.
Now, for some odd reason, I've become rather bored and depressed with being alone all day, and I also have ADD or something, because I can't keep at one task for more than an hour if I'm alone. I feel like time is dragging and I get depressed that my life has no more purpose than to vacuum the floors of my house all day. I've tried to truly cherish my time alone, and I'll pray, try to get into a new book, but it doesn't work any more. I can barely get myself to stay attentive to one chapter in a new novel. Prayer can become less invigorating the longer I go at it. My day gets harder and harder to go through as the hours go by. Now, I know that living in a house of white walls does not help (see my last post for more on that), but I really have a hard time doing the same thing, every day, especially something that is so dull as simply keeping the house in order. The only thing that makes it possible for me to get through the day without an emotional breakdown is if I take time to go for a walk outside. I think if I can get my butt up and moving, I'd like to start taking late morning runs during the work week.
Self-image has become a problem of mine as of late, and as I see my once semi-athletic body becoming softer and pudgier, it's getting to me. I'm a bit too lazy to actually get up and take action, however. Just writing about it is making me more motivated though, so I'm determining to get up and run after I finish this post. Running is actually a good cure for depression and stress. Any sort of exercise, especially cardiovascular, is good for you, really. It also gets rid of pudge, which I'm all for. And, if you're decent at multi-tasking, it can be good prayer time!
It is settled - I'm gonna start simple, even just a half-mile run, and go from there. It may not last long, with sweet, wonderful winter arriving in just a few short months, but that's what sexy isometric workouts with the husband are for ;)

Oh, This Is Gonna Be the Good Life

Perhaps some of you have heard of the slightly out-of-season snowstorm some states along the East coast have been hit with.
I happen to live in one of the many areas where that snow storm is happening. And right now, there is 4 inches of snow in my yard. Yea. Before Thanksgiving, before November, before Halloween. It's crazy.
Last winter I'm sure you heard of all the crazy amounts of snow from Pennsylvania to Virginia. I don't know why, but my town was in some snow-repelent bubble. Because every single town surrounding us was getting anywhere from 6 inches to 2 feet of snow. We were lucky if we got an inch. I think near the end of winter we finally got a nice 10 inches of snow, but this was after everyone else had already received their record amounts of snowfall.
That being said, I see some sledding in tomorrow's forecast... along with pelting my brother with snowballs, muahahaha!

 Around Noon

 An hour later

2:30 P.M.

Two hours after.

This unexpected snow really got me in the Christmas mood. I even turned on some Christmas tunes while my brother and I played Super Smash Bros. Brawl :D I'm drinking some homemade peppermint hot chocolate (my mom may have slightly overdone it with the peppermint extract, but at least my sinuses are cleared out now), I watched a wicked Penn State game (what are the chances that being down 7-10, 4th down, 42 yards, Illinois's kid, who's kicked 39 good field goals out of 41, would hit the upright!), and I plan on not going to bed before 10. Last night I was in bed at 9:30 and slept until 9:15. I felt extremely lazy. Especially considering it was a Friday night and I've slept in till 10 the past three mornings. I guess this cold has just taken it out of me... or I'm just really lazy ;)
Tomorrow's plans are church, the first meeting for a Bible study my friend's mom has started up, and possibly the movies to see either Puss In Boots or Footloose. Personally, I have my hopes set on Footloose, but my mom's on the negative for some odd reason. Considering she never monitors anything I watch. Every once in a while she has these weird "parental moments" where she gets oddly protective. They usually only last a few days though, then it's back to "whatever, I don't care." :p I won't complain if she doesn't let me see it, but I think it's funny when she goes all "supermom" at random times. Haha :)
I'm hoping maybe Maddy and I can watch Paranormal Activity 2 tonight. I feel the need to watch something spooky...
Actually, I feel the need to watch a Christmas movie, but I think that's just what I like to call "the first snow effect" ;)

Cheers♥

My dad thought it would be awesome if he were in one of my pictures...

Autumn, Fall, and other things related to the former

So as I'm sitting here, surfing the world of Internet, I discovered something only a true child at heart could love. Three words:
Adult. Candy. Necklaces.
And by "adult" I don't mean... that kind of adult, I mean out of the kiddie table, into the big chairs adult. Just maybe you too will be filled with a passion to create a masterpiece, loved by few, judged by many, and yet something we could all enjoy if we were a bit more open-minded.
   So it's September.
   Already?
Sorry to disappoint. It seems as life goes on, time just spins by faster and faster.
But there are some things to love about fall. Want to hear some of my favorites? You know you want to...
Leaves
Obviously one of the most loved and noticed things about fall is the beautiful, colorful leaves. Floating gracefully through the air to find their grave in the earth, seen for only a short while because they disappear beneath winter's snow...
Well that was a bit dramatic. Moving on...
Candy. Corn.
The regular kind seems to be more of a summer thing. And it's cool. I mean, I like me some corn on the cob. But candy corn...
I like candy. And in corn form, it just takes everything to a whole new level. Those ghosty Peeps are pretty delectable too.
Pumpkin stuff
You can do so many things with pumpkins. Carve them, bake them, take pictures of them... They are just so versatile! You can wear stuff with pumpkins on it, make pumpkin pie, pumpkin rolls (my personal favorite), bake pumpkin seeds, carve a scary face on one, set it at eye level and have a staring contest (this is not so silly as it sounds. It is actually very hard to keep a straight face with a pumpkin staring with googly eyes at you), and so much more!
Corn mazes
So maybe it's a bit hypocritical for me to choose these, because, in all honesty, I haven't been through a corn maze in like... years. But I still love them. Unfortunately my hopes and dreams of doing one of my favorite fall activities are every year, crushed, do to some circumstance not suitable for corn mazing. But every year I still hope that this year might be my year to live my dream... because nothing's more fun than getting stuck in rows of corn for hours, right?
The clothes
Fall is my time of year. Because I get to wear my favorite combination of clothing ever: skinny jeans, boyfriend cardi, Hobbits. If I could wear just that year round, I'd be the happiest person alive. I'm still convinced that I need another cardigan or two, and I REALLY need a new pairs of Chucks (mine have a huge hole and aren't even close to the original color), but I make do. A simple tee or tank underneath and VOILA! Perfect. Outfit. I'm also convinced I could use another pair of Blowfish booties just because they are so darn adorable.
See? How could you NOT love those shoes? (I have ones similar to those, but they're purple and black plaid)
Of course there are TONS of other things I love about fall: hoodies, campfires, discount Halloween candy...
   I could go on. But I won't.
   Happy Thursday!
Cheers♥
