Free Stuff and the Stuff I Wish Were

  via

May I start off by saying that I TOTALLY want one of these! It just seems so... cool. And old-fashioned. And awesome.

I discovered yesterday that I won a Royal Tailor CD from SUSIE Magazine! I always love when I win stuff! Mostly because it seems so unlikely that you'll ever win anything, so when it happens it's like accomplishing the impossible! Hmm... I had an awesome quote on "the impossible"... and I don't remember where from... no, it's not Alice In Wonderland ;) Oh well... Speaking of forgetting things,
I was watching the news today (I do it like once a month, just to make sure I sorta know what's going on in the world ;), and some guy campaigning for president, I believe, had a total memory flop during a debate and now there's this huge thing on it! He forgot like one of the... parts or government or something... I don't know. I couldn't even name one. I was thinking "Republicans, Democrats, and China", so what do I know? (in case you're wondering, he forgot "energy").
This makes me wonder how far I'd get is I were involved in anything political. Not very far, I don't think. I forget things all the time! I mean, if him having just one memory lapse is going to completely ruin his chance of running for president, then... well, gee whiz! It's just silly.

I had some thoughts on everything that's going on at Penn State. So, apparently last night Joe Paterno (head coach of PSU football) was fired. He's a legend. People are ticked. They're so ticked, that last night tons of students from Penn State started rioting - and not in a friendly way. They were smashing windshields, tipping vans over, and probably worse. But, it wasn't because of the scandal that went on. It wasn't because they were horrified at what had happened to the victims.
It was because Joe Paterno had been fired.
Now I'm as big a Penn State football fan as they come, but this really brought some light to what the current human condition is.
I understand how great JoePa is. He's a legend. He's been head coach of Penn State football for almost half a century. He's got his own statue at the university. I think he even has a library named after him. He's a big deal.
But when you're willing to overlook horrible, perverted, sickening actions done to innocent children just because some football coach was fired? That's disturbing.
I don't know if Paterno knew anything about this scandal. It seems like he did, and if so, thought I hat to say it, I think he deserves this. I'm not saying he's a horrible person that should be thrown in jail, because honestly, there were others who turned a blind eye as well. And maybe he's blameless in all of this and doesn't deserve it (I think he was going to retire after this season anyway).
But he really isn't what's important.
Half the campus of probably one of the biggest universities in Pennsylvania rioted because their football coach was fired. No one even thought about what at least eight young men suffered. That's an afterthought.
And the real killer is that this morning, after looking back on last night's events, most of the students involved, and even those who weren't, were ashamed of what had taken place.
Now that really got me thinking.
How many young people in this world go on a rampage without thinking, and not honestly wanting to think, and then regret it? How many times do we do things on a whim that we regret afterwards?
And how many times have we gotten caught up in the insignificant, when there's a bigger picture to be seen.
Sometimes we forget what really matters in this life. Even worse is that the majority of us don't know what matters in life. A lot of people on this earth are clueless. What's the difference to them if they're mad about a football coach being fired or a huge sex scandal having taken place by someone who walked on their campus? And honestly, it doesn't matter unless you see the bigger picture.

Anyway, I did have more cheery things to talk about but I forgot them (SEE?! That memory problem is really getting serious...). I'm thinking of starting something new... something a little more entertaining than just me blabbering on about nothing... maybe that will be tomorrow's goal ;)

Cheers♥

Haha, my sister and I couldn't help but laugh :P
