Melted Depression

"20 Years" - The Civil Wars

   I want a perfect day.
Where the weather is cool and overcast, but not really depressing - just calm.
I want a quiet cabin on the edge of a forest, with a lake or pond sitting below it.
I want a mug of hot tea, an inspiring book, and a comfy window seat. Perhaps a little fire glowing in a fireplace.
Unfortunately, after daydreaming about such an experience, I jump back into reality - the exact opposite of my dreamworld.
Fighting siblings, a messy house, no tea, no comfy window seat. There's just reality.
Imagination is so bittersweet. We can create such wonderful things, but you can only look at them from outside the box they're in.
Of course my dream isn't really improbable, it's just not currently attainable. Maybe one day I'll get my perfect day. Or near-perfect. Perfection is quite improbable and I try not to hope for such a thing.
Then again, what you wish for is never quite as good outside of your head. The world usually finds some way to besmirch it just enough to give it a sour aftertaste.
Heaven on earth is impossible, but, even so, it's nice to imagine.

Cheers♥

  1. I want a day like that too. Sometimes I try to make them like that, but reality always seems to get in the way... sigh.
