I got through another piano recital today! It's funny, I never realized how stressful these things can be for the teachers. One teacher was probably more nervous than her student! She had her eyes closed and I could see her mentally playing through the song as her student played on stage.
Before the recital started I was given the job of keeping a young girl calm. Apparently she gets extremely nervous before recitals (which I wasn't aware of until after the recital). She actually seemed pretty chill, but I was there talking to her about my nine-page song and how I've forgotten my piece before and how nervous I get. Which, thinking about it now, probably wasn't so encouraging, but I was telling her that since this was just a normal recital and we weren't being judged, it didn't matter if we messed up or forgot, because most people probably wouldn't notice (which may have been a lie because I'm sure some people may figure it out. But she didn't need to know that :p). Anyway, she performed before me and from, what I could tell, played her piece almost perfectly! I found out later that at her last recital she was in tears she was so nervous! I'd like to think I contributed to her doing awesome today at the recital, but I think it was God's grace helping out two little children today. (I didn't spazz out before I played! I think the little girl helped calm me down ;)
I also saw the most talented little pianist I've ever bore witness to. She couldn't have been any older than seven, and she was amazing. I think she was better than me, and I've been playing for eleven years!
I also stopped at Cinnabon with my mom on the way home and we shared some cinnamonny deliciousness! She also bought me a pair of MukLuks for Christmas, but I have to forget about them before then (shhh... it's a surprise!).
Tomorrow is just more piano and school! Too bad the weekends aren't longer :\
